Mount Nemrut
A UNESCO-listed mountain crowned by the giant statues of a Commagene king.

At the summit of Mount Nemrut stands the tomb-sanctuary built by King Antiochus I of Commagene. The giant heads of statues of gods and the king line the east and west terraces of the artificial tumulus. The site was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1987. The summit is especially busy at sunrise and sunset.
