Standing in Beyazıtpaşa neighbourhood on the east bank of the Yeşilırmak, opposite the Künç Bridge, the mosque was built in 1414 by Bayezid Paşa, who later became grand vizier. Its inverted-T plan resembles that of the Green Mosque built in Bursa around the same period; mosques of this plan are also called Zaviye-type or Bursa-type mosques.
