The Gallipoli Peninsula was the scene of the 1915 Gallipoli campaign. The Çanakkale Martyrs' Memorial, Chunuk Bair, the 57th Regiment Cemetery, Anzac Cove and memorials of many nations are spread across the peninsula. The area is protected as a historic site, and the visitor centre at Kabatepe is a good place to start.
