Prusias ad Hypium dates back to the 3rd century BCE and took its name after being captured in 183 BCE by the Bithynian king Prusias I. Its ancient theatre, paved roads, aqueducts and colonnaded streets survive today. The adjoining Konuralp Museum, opened in 2003, displays archaeological and ethnographic finds and coins from the site.
