Palu Castle

Palu Castle is thought to have been built in the reign of the Urartian king Menua; it stands on a rock outcrop, with the Murat River encircling it on the south and south-east. Rock-cut tombs and cuneiform inscriptions date from the Urartian period, while some later additions belong to the Artuqid, Seljuk and Ottoman periods.
