Haho Church, in the village of Bağbaşı in Tortum, is also known as the Church of the Virgin Mary. Built between 976 and 1001 by the Bagratid king David III, it was converted into a mosque in the 19th century and renamed Taş Cami (Stone Mosque). Combining a closed Greek-cross plan with a basilica layout, the building has relief figures of lions, bulls, eagles and griffins, and its interior retains fresco fragments depicting Biblical scenes.
