Built between 1134 and 1142, the Great Mosque is among the first buildings in Anatolia where the Seljuks used the Asian brick technique; it is notable for its minaret, arched columns and marble column capitals. Of the madrasa once attached to the mosque, only the tomb inside it survives, holding the grave of Melik Mehmet Gazi, who commissioned both buildings.
