Excavations carried out since 1993 at the mound south of central Kırklareli have uncovered cultural layers dating back to around 6200 BC. Together with the nearby Aşağıpınar mound, it carries traces of the region's earliest farming communities; finds from the excavations are displayed in the Kırklareli Museum.
