Kıyıköy Monastery of St Nicholas
A rock-cut monastery near Kıyıköy, one of the finest surviving examples of Byzantine rock monasteries.

Carved into the rock on the south slope along the Papuçdere road, about 700 metres from the town of Kıyıköy, it has a church on the ground floor, a holy spring (ayazma) below and monks' cells on the upper level. A wooden entrance added by local Greeks in the 19th century has since disappeared.
