The Kütahya houses lining Germiyan and Ahiler Baba streets in Meydan neighbourhood are 19th-century examples of civil architecture that have survived largely in their original form, with timber-braced upper storeys, narrow windows and wide eaves. The two- and three-storey houses have kitchens, pantries and storerooms on the ground floor and living and sleeping rooms above; their outer walls are painted white, yellow, indigo blue or ochre.
