Sedir Island (ancient Cedrae) lies on the eastern side of the Gulf of Gökova within Ula district and was one of the important cities of Carian civilisation. Its settlement developed on the eastern side of the isthmus dividing the island; a theatre, sacred precincts and walled residential areas can still be seen today. Along with its roughly 800-metre beach, the island is a first-degree archaeological and natural protected area and a special environmental protection zone.
