Havza's thermal springs date back to the Byzantine period; their waters, at 56-67°C, are used in facilities believed to help with rheumatism and muscle pain. Mustafa Kemal Pasha came to Havza on 25 May 1919, after landing at Samsun on 19 May, and stayed until 12 June, carrying out the first organisational work of the National Struggle from here.
