The Tomb of Veysel Karani is in the Baykan district, about 40 km from Siirt, on the Diyarbakır-Bitlis highway. Together with a mosque, a fountain and other buildings around a shared courtyard, it forms a small complex. Its construction date is unknown, but it is mentioned in the works of 10th-century geographers, and Evliya Çelebi also refers to it in his Book of Travels. The walls of the tomb are tiled up to window height. Commemorations are held every year, and the tomb draws large numbers of visitors.
