Built by Melik Danişmend Gazi, the conqueror of Tokat, in the last quarter of the 11th century (1080-1090), Garipler Mosque stands in Pazarcık neighbourhood; it is also known locally as the Green Minaret Mosque for the green-glazed bricks on its minaret. It is considered one of the oldest mosques built in Anatolia after the 1071 Battle of Manzikert, and was restored in 2008.
