Moved to its new building in 2018, the Uşak Museum holds a collection of 42,000 objects from the Palaeolithic to the Byzantine period. Its best-known section is the Karun (Croesus) Treasure, 432 pieces belonging to the Lydian king Croesus; smuggled abroad in the 1960s, it was returned to Turkey in 1993 after legal action. A brooch in the shape of a winged sea-horse is one of the most recognised pieces on display.
