- History
Boğazkale is the district of Hattusa, capital of the Hittite Empire. The Lion Gate, the King's Gate, the Yazılıkaya open-air sanctuary and the Boğazköy Museum are here; Hattusa was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1986.
