The Sultan Melik Tomb belongs to Sultan Melik, whom the Seljuk ruler Alparslan charged with the conquest of Anatolia. Between 1071 and 1080 Sultan Melik brought Kemah along with Erzincan, Divriği and Şarki Karahisar under his rule, and the Mengücek Beylik founded in the region ruled until 1228. The tomb stands on a rocky platform northwest of Kemah.
